Houston Astros’ relief pitcher Josh Hader has been named the American League’s Reliever of the Month for August, Major League Baseball announced on Thursday.
The nod comes in a month where Hader was dominant as the Astros’ closer. He allowed just four hits all month for an .085 opposing batting average. In 14 and 1/3 innings pitched, Hader did not allow a single run and remained perfect on the season in save attempts.
For his career, this is the ninth time Hader has taken home Reliver of the Month honors. It is his second nod with the Astros, and he trails only Edwin Diaz in total Reliever of the Month Awards since the creation of it back in 2005.
The Astros wrap up their four-game series against the Chicago White Sox this afternoon at 1:10 PM. The game can be heard on ESPN 103.7 Lafayette 104.1 Lake Charles.
