The Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns’ Women’s Cross Country team just made history. They took home the first ever Sun Belt Conference Championship in Cross Country, for either men or women.
The team accomplished this feat in Foley, Alabama at the Sun Belt Championships. Five of the UL runners finished in the top 19, including four Louisiana natives. Isabelle Russel (Benton, LA) finished 3rd, Ella Segura (Jennings, LA) 5th, Angelle Dupuis (Lafayette, LA) 7th, Brooke Berger (Elmhurst, IL) 12th and Chloe Crowell (Slidell, LA) came in 19th.
The Cajuns saw multiple First-Team All-SBC performers, and Tommy Badon took home the SBC Coach of the Year award.
The Championship is the 35th overall in program history, while it is the 9th ever Cross Country title. It is the first title for the women since 1997, and the first as members of the Sun Belt Conference.
